HandHeld Entertainment lowered the price of its ZVUE portable media player from $149.95 to $99.95 today, making it one of the cheapest players with a 2.5-inch color TFT display that can playback all kinds of video formats.

"Our mission from the beginning has been to bring mobile media to the mass market," said Jeff Oscodar, president and chief executive officer of HandHeld Entertainment. "I'm thrilled that we can provide the market with a great media player that plays music, displays pictures and plays video at this breakthrough price. Now we can all enjoy digital media on the go. Enjoying quality music, videos and photos on the go is something that everybody should be able to do, not just those who can afford $400 for a portable media player that can't even play video."

The ZVUE portable media player measures 4.33 x 2.91 x 1.1 inches and weights 5 ounces without batteries. I haven't tested this player but one of the biggest disadvantages is its small memory, it has only 128MB flash memory but you can expand this with SD and MMC cards. More info can be found at the manufacturer's site: ZVUE.
