NVIDIA to launch Mobile GeForce 7800 (G70M)

X-bit Labs reports NVIDIA has developed a less power hungry G70 GPU for notebooks. The NVIDIA G70M was recently certified by PCI-SIG and is likely a mobile version of the GeForce 7800 GTX.

While the high-end GeForce 7800 GTX features 24 pixel pipelines, 8 vertex pipelines and is uses more than 300 million transistors, the mobile version will likely feature 20 pixel and 7 vertex pipes. However, it's still unsure how many pipelines will be activated on the G70M.
Given that power consumption of the GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card is about 80W and mobile version should consume much less than that, the G70M is unlikely to offer performance fully similar to the GeForce 7800 GTX, but to its cut-down derivatives.
