Creative posted a net quarterly loss of $31.9 million on Wednesday, for the three months ended June 30. A year ago the company posted a profit of $6.63 million.

Excluding an investment gain of US$9.3 million, Creative said it had a loss of US$41.2 million or 49 US cents per share.
The company said on Thursday it was close to break-even in the September quarter, its fiscal first quarter. 'We believe we can get closer to break-even in the current quarter and that we can return to profitability by the end of this calendar year,' said Craig McHugh, the president of Creative Labs Inc, the firm's US unit.
Creative told the press it will launch two new MP3 players with photo and video capabilities. The Zen Micro Photo is planned for the end of September and the 30GB Zen Vision is slated for the end of this month.
