AMD Vega to launch together with Battlefield 1?

AMD's Radeon Technologies Group is at it again with weird posts on social media. This time Chris Hook, senior director of global marketing, published a photo on Facebook of an abandoned industrial building which he claims will be the Vega launch venue.

As you may know, Vega will be the new high-end GPU from AMD and this chip is expected to feature HBM2 as well as better energy efficiency than Polaris.

So when will AMD launch the Vega lineup? Unfortunately, there are no fresh details about this so all we have right now are a bunch of old rumors. Depending on the source, this may be as early as October 2016 or as late as March 2017. The fact that AMD is already talking about a launch venue suggests it's closer to the former than the latter.

Speaking about the launch location, it's going to be interesting to see what AMD is up to. The picture from Hook looks like a screenshot from a game and seems to depict a factory with a design that lets in a lot of natural light. I'm not an expert in industrial architecture but it looks like a location that could be a century old.

So is there anything big happening in the video game world, a game that could feature such a location? One game that comes to mind is EA DICE's Battlefield 1, this shooter is set in the First World War and some kind of armaments factory from that time could fit the bill. Battlefield 1 is expected to be released on October 21, 2016, lending further credibility to an October launch date for Vega.
