A couple of years ago Amazon got into content creation, the e-tailer not only has its own TV series but is also working on other things like games. Now you can sign up for the free alpha version of Breakaway, the first big-budget gaming title from Amazon.

Breakaway is sort of a mythological street basketball with armed players. It's a multi-player game with heavy Twitch integration, the video streaming app Amazon bought in 2014. Full details at LA Times.
What’s the big-picture philosophy of Amazon Games?

Mike Frazzini, Amazon Games vice president: Everyone wants it to be a thing, but it’s really a collection of things and us obsessing about customers.

We view the cloud and shared experiences as being historically the past, present and future of games. If you think about what makes games so fantastic, it’s the experiences you have with your friends. A long time ago it was in arcades, then over local networks, then online and now you have Twitch and e-sports and modding and cosplay. They are all about shared experiences.
