Hitachi presents DVD recorder with 1TB storage capacity

Hitachi announced a new line of DVD recorders called Woo. This fancy-named lineup will feature DVD recorders with a capacity of 160GB, 250GB, 500GB and even a whopping 1000GB (1TB). Of course users will still have the ability to record on a regular DVD disc instead of on the hard disk drive. These things won't be cheap, the cheapest will go for $1,180 and the 1TB version will be priced at $2,730.
Initially Hitachi Woo DVD/HDD recorders will be available in Japan and the manufacturer does not currently have any clear plans for marketing the devices in Europe or the U.S. Currently Japan accounts for more than half of global DVD recorder market, whereas other regions prefer different types of recorders, including set-top-boxes.
