Digital audio player maker Rio is dead

Posted on Saturday, August 27 2005 @ 2:49 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck
D&M Holdings officially stated on Friday that the ultra-competitive MP3 player business no longer fits its market strategy and that it will shut down its Rio division. D&M Holdings said the portable MP3 player market requires too much investment, and didn't offer enough return to warrant continuing.

The last Rio player will be made at the end of September and D&M Holdings will continue to support retailers and customers service claims. More details at CNET
