The last half year or so there were a lot of rumors about Intel having closed some kind of deal with AMD to integrate Radeon graphics technology in its Core processors. Many people assumed this deal was necessary due to the expiration of the cross-license deal between Intel and NVIDIA but that rumor got debunked last month.

There are still a lot of rumblings though, with both HardOCP and FUD Zilla claiming there's definitely some kind of deal between Intel and AMD. Now FUD Zilla managed to score a bit more information. Take it with a grain of salt but the site claims the driving force behind an Intel CPU with AMD Radeon graphics is Apple.

The goal here is to pair Intel's CPU with a Radeon core in a multi-chip module. This will increase the performance/Watt of Apple's future laptops.
Apple doesn’t want to use Nvidia graphics in any of its products and it currently only uses Radeon based GPUs discrete form for both its desktops and notebooks. It turns out that a whole integrated solution with Intel CPU and Radeon graphics is something that Apple was very interested in.

The Mac Book Pro 13-inch currently uses Intel Iris Graphics 540 or Intel Iris Graphics 550 graphics and this is not really enough for high-end users. A Radeon core in the same thermal envelope will simply offer more.
If the rumor is true, the solution will be more powerful than Intel's integrated graphics and it also enables a simpler and cheaper motherboard design. FUD Zilla claims this may be the upcoming Kaby Lake G chip.
