Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum have soared significantly the past couple of months and this sparked a new mining boom. Video cards like the AMD Radeon RX 570/580 are hard to find in a lot of countries and even NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1060 is seeing a lot of demand from miners.

The video card makers are addressing the demand by making special mining cards and FUD Zilla learned NVIDIA is even working on a new driver to improve the hash rate and compute power of its GeForce GTX 1060:
Nvidia apparently has been working on a new driver that is targeted to improve the hash rate and compute power of the card. The key metric for miners is how many Megahashes per second you can deliver, and at what power. Radeon RX 480 is still the king of mining as you can get close to 24 Mh/s with less than 100W power.
According to CryptoCompare, at current market prices a video card like the $199 Radeon RX 480 has a payback period of just 38 days if you use it for Ethereum mining.
