Another new thing that was shown at Qualcomm's second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii on Tuesday was the Snapdragon 845. This is the successor to the Snapdragon 835 and will become the company's next flagship.

The first Android phones with the Snapdragon 845 SoC are expected in 2018, the chip will presumably be made on the 10nm process and will be paired with the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem.

The first design win to be announced at the Snapdragon Technology Summit involved Xiaomi, founder and CEO Lei Jun came on stage and revealed that Xiaomi's next flagship phone will use the Snapdragon 845. Presumably, Qualcomm is working together with Microsoft to extend Windows 10 x86 emulation support to this new chip.

Technical details are expected to be revealed today. So far, Qualcomm said the new chip will focus on aspects like Gigabit LTE, higher performance, VR and AR immersion, AI, security, and 360-degree imagery.
