Also at CES 2018, AMD confirmed that its 12nm second-generation Ryzen processors are ready for an April 2018 launch. The 12nm samples are now shipping, these Zen+ chips are based on the Pinnacle Ridge design, an improvement of the current generation.

Alongside the launch of the Ryzen 2000 series, AMD will offer the X470 motherboard chipset, which will have a couple of new features and lower power consumption. Just like the new CPUs, the X470 launches in April 2018.

In the second half of 2018, AMD plans to introduce its second-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors.

AMD also revealed that the Zen 2 design is complete, these processors are expected to be fabbed on a 7nm node and will improve on the first-gen Zen design in multiple dimensions. No official word about when we can expect Zen 2, perhaps in 2019.

Some GPU roadmap updates were provided but there's not a whole lot of interesting info here, except that the new roadmap goes straight to 7nm so it looks like rumors about a 12nm refresh of Vega were inaccurate.

Anyway, it appears AMD's plan is to launch a 7nm version of Vega. The first product with this new chip will be a Radeon Instinct card for the machine learning market. Perhaps this is the Vega20 we heard about before.

The next step on the AMD GPU roadmap will be 7nm Navi, and after that we can expect a 7nm+ "next-gen" GPU.
