Apparently, there was something notable about the Intel GPU driver 24.20.100.6025 that got launched alongside Microsoft's Windows 10 April 2018 Update. Not only does this release feature significant quality and power efficiency improvements, but WCCF Tech noticed this was the first time Intel released a day 0, launch ready driver for its integrated graphics.

In the past, it often took Intel one to two months to get its drivers ready. The site inferences this means Intel is more serious about graphics, and that it bodes well for the chip giant's future discrete video cards.
So what’s the hullabaloo about?
  • In the past, Intel posted new graphics (and any WinOS drivers really) one-two months after RTM aligned with Intel platform PV.
  • This time Graphics Software Engineering Director, Lisa Pearce and her team went for day 0 RTM alignment.
  • This is a key milestone if Intel wants to tackle launch day gaming drivers for its discrete products someday and one of the initial signs of the software side shaping up to meet the company’s new ambitions.
