Who says there's no money to be earned with open-source software? Linux developer SUSE just got sold to Swedish private equity firm EQT Partners for $2.5 billion. The deal is expected to close in early 2019. SUSE was owned by Micro Focus, which acquired the Linux developer via the takeover of Attachmate in 2011.
EQT said as the new owner it would help SUSE hire software engineers to expand the products it offers.

“Investment into engineers was somewhat restricted under prior ownership. That will change,” EQT’s Johannes Reichel said.
