Pretty big news for the gaming scene as Nike just signed up its first eSports athlete. The sports apparel giant signed an endorsement deal with Jian “Uzi” Zihao, a League of Legends player of the China-based Royal Never Give Up team. Zihao is considered to be the best LoL player in the world and he has a significant fanbase in China. The deal is to promote the new "Dribble &" line, Zihao will be featured along NBA player LeBron James and Chinese actor Bai Jingting.
According to the announcement by Nike Basketball, Zihao, Chinese actor Bai Jingting, and NBA basketball player LeBron James will promote James’ “Dribble &” marketing campaign in support of his upcoming documentary series “Shut Up and Dribble”. In the advertisement, Zihao wears a black T-shirt with the text “Dribble & Carry”, with the key word “Carry” (a term used in League of Legends to mean a single player pushing his or her team to victory) only appearing on Zihao’s jersey.
