Word is going around that Intel is planning to refresh its LGA2066 high-end desktop platform this summer. The new lineup will be based on the Cascade Lake-X architecture, but there will also be a Cascade Lake launch that uses LGA3647 in April, those models will feature higher core-counts and six-channel memory support. The LGA2066 Cascade Lake-X HEDT CPUs may be revealed at Computex in June.
Both chips will be built on existing 14 nm process, and will bring innovations such as Optane Persistent Memory support, Intel Deep Learning Boost (DLBOOST) extensions with VNNI instruction-set, and hardware mitigation against more variants of "Meltdown" and "Spectre."
On a related note, the report also mentions Comet Lake. We've heard about this chip before, it's believed to be another 14nm Skylake derivative with an LGA1151 socket and up to 10 cores.
