Well that took a long time. A demonstration of Shadow of the Tomb Raider with real-time ray tracing for shadows was shown back in August 2018 and now the feature is finally available via a new update. Besides RTX, the patch also adds NVIDIA DLSS support.
TechPowerUp ran some benchmarks and concludes it's not a game-transforming experience. The shadows look more realistic with RTX turned on but this comes at a performance cost of 30-50 percent. DLSS on the other hand seems to work well and results in a 35 percent performance gain at 4K. In side-by-side comparisons, DLSS looks a but blurry in some areas, but TPU says it's hard to tell DLSS-on vs DLSS-off apart.
