Together with the publication of its first-quarter financial results, Samsung announced its foundry division will start development of a 4nm EUV process in the second half of this year.

This quarter, Samsung wants to start shipments of chips made using its 7nm EUV process, and it also plans to finish development of its 5nm EUV node.

For the DDR4 segment, Samsung will ramp up 1ynm production in the second half of 2019, and mass produce chips using the 1znm process.

Also on Samsung's roadmap for the rest of the year is customer diversification. So far, the South Korean giant hasn't been able to convince a lot of chip designers to use its technology.
