AMD to launch Athlon 64 X2 5000+ in 2006

VR-Zone reports AMD has confirmed the Socket M2 design will arrive in the second quarter of 2006.

The single-core Athlon 64/FX codenamed Orleans and the dual-core Athlon 64 X2 codenamed Windsor will all be made on a 90nm process and will support DDR2 667MHz memory, bi-directional 1GHz HyperTransport bus, Presidio Security and Pacifica Virtualization technology.

One of these processors is the Windsor based Athlon 64 X2 5000+. This one will be clocked at 2.667GHz (8.0 x 333.3MHz) and will have 2x 1MB L2 cache.
