German tech site Igor's Lab has some fresh leaks about Vermeer, the Zen 3-based Ryzen 4000 series from AMD. Expected to be introduced in September, engineering samples of Vermeer are already spotted in the wild with Boost frequencies of up to 4.6GHz. These are eight-core, sixteen-threaded parts.
According to the sources, exactly 4.6 GHz boost clock and 4.0 GHz base clock are hidden behind the number sequence 46/40 on the eight-core, while the 16-core is also listed with 4.6 Ghz boost and only 3.7 base clock. These values are of course anything but final and one could expect the predicted clock increases for the A1 revision at the latest. How high these will be, is not yet known.
VideoCardz also reiterates that AMD's desktop version of the Renoir APU will come in up to eight-core, sixteen-threaded versions. This is the first time the desktop market sees an APU with more than four cores.
