Outlook 365 update resolves crash issue

A recent update for Microsoft's Outlook 365 seems to have caused some issues. Users around the world report were no longer able to open the e-mail client as it crashed immediately after opening it. Windows Event Viewer reports showed a cryptic exception code "0xc0000005" for these crashes. Some users also report issues with Outlook 2016 and 2019.

Microsoft is now rolling out a fix for this problem.

We've completed the fix rollout and confirmed via internal monitoring the service has recovered. Please note, users may need to restart the Outlook client to enable the fix. Additional details can be found under EX218604 in the admin center.
