NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 over 50% faster than RTX 2080 Ti?

Posted on Friday, July 31 2020 @ 13:45:17 CEST by

NVDA
Twitter leakers KatCorgi and kopite7kimi claim the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 will pack massive performance. The rumor is that the RTX 3090 offers up to 50 percent higher performance than the RTX 2080 Ti in the 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme benchmark. The card is rumored to hit a score of almost 10,000 points. Both leakers have provided credible leaks in the past.
An NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti for reference scores around 6300 points in Time Spy Extreme and a 50% increase over this amount would be 9450 points. If the card has *any* overclocking headroom, we should expect to see overclockers break the 10000 points barrier within days of the GPUs shipping to customers. Of course, NVIDIA could also decide to go with highly conservative clocks so it is advisable not to get too excited at this stage (till the final clocks are confirmed).
NVIDIA's Ampere GPUs are expected to be available in September.
