The new M1-based MacBooks from Apple are some of the most exciting laptops we've seen in a long time and next year we can expect even higher-performing versions. Word on the street is that larger MacBook Pro laptops with Apple Silicon will hit the market in the first half of 2021.

MacRumors reports this will include devices with mini-LED display technology. These devices will hit the market after the launch of the first iPad Pro with mini-LED display.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, production will begin on mini-LED displays for the ?iPad Pro? in the fourth quarter of 2020, with a launch expected in the first half of 2021. Apple is also believed to be working on new 16.1 and 14.1-inch MacBook Pro models with mini-LED displays, which are expected to be released during the first half of 2021.
So why mini-LED? The advantage of this technology is that it will offer wide color gamut, high contrast, HDR and local dimming. You get a higher contrast ratio, higher brightness, deeper blacks, and it's energy-efficient too. The biggest issues are cost and production related.
