Microsoft: 50 percent of Xbox 360 users to go Live

Joystiq writes Xbox senior vice president Robbie Bach said Microsoft hopes to expand the number of Xbox Live users with the launch of the Xbox 360 console.

Currently 10 percent, or 2 million people, of the Xbox owners are Live subscribers but Microsoft hopes to boost this to 50 percent of the next-generation console's owners with the addition of the Xbox 360 Silver package.
This doesn’t mean that half of all Xbox 360 owners will be battling it out across the Live network, but at least the “free” Silver package gives users access to the Xbox Live Marketplace…
