While NAND flash memory prices are expected to drop next quarter, DigiTimes reports there may be a price hike for NAND flash memory controllers. The site heard both Phison and Silicon Motion plan to raise prices by 10-15 percent:
NAND flash device controller suppliers including Phison Electronics and Silicon Motion Technology have stopped offering quotes for new orders, and are mulling a 10-15% price hike in the first quarter of 2021, according to industry sources.
Typical SSD controllers for consumer SSDs are believed to cost around $6 a piece so the overall impact here will be small.
