While a lot of attention goes to high-end power supplies, the reality is that a ton of PC users don't need units that can pump out a ton of wattage. SilverStone just released a new mass-market model called ET500-ARGB. This model aims to combine fancy ARGB LED light effects with low noise.

The unit offers 80Plus Bronze certification and features a single +12V rail with a maximum output of 38A. The unit has a 120mm ARGB LED fan that can be connected to an ARGB LED header, or alternatively, you can switch between 17 lighting effects via the ARGB control button. The noise level is said to be "18dBA minimum." The fan keeps spinning at under 500RPM up until about 50 percent load but ramps up to over 1500RPM when the PSU nears full load.

Cables are fixed to the unit, so no modularity here. You get one 20/24-pin motherboard conector, one 8-pin CPU connector, a 4+4-pin CPU connector, two 6+2-pin PCIe connectors, three Molex connectors, and a total of four SATA power connectors. The ET500-ARB measures 150 mm (W) x 86 mm (H) x 140 mm (D) and weighs 1.37kg. It also comes with typical protection features like OCP, OPP, OVP, SCP, and OTP.

Pricing and availability is unknown.
