When you look purely at memory capacity, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 lineup doesn't make a lot of sense and it's about to get more bizarre if a new rumor is accurate. AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series was introduced with more memory than NVIDIA had expected -- which resulted in some oddities like the GeForce RTX 3060 getting 12GB GDDR6, 2GB more capacity than the higher-end RTX 3080.

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to have 8GB and 16GB model?

VideoCardz picked up chatter from Uniko's Hardware about the future GeForce RTX 3070 Ti having two variants. If the rumor is accurate, NVIDIA plans versions with 8GB and 16GB memory capacity. These cards are expected to feature GDDR6X memory chips with a bandwidth of 19Gbps.

The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is expected to hit the market in May, which is now also the launch month of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. Take this with a grain of salt as the global semiconductor shortages could result in further delays.

Based on leaks, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is expected to get the GA104-400 "Ampere" GPU with 6144 CUDA cores and a 256-bit memory bus. With a memory clock of 19Gbps, the card may offer about 608GB/s of memory bandwidth.
