A couple of rumors about a new Apple MacBook Air have hit the web. MacRumors reports the Cupertino-based electronics giant is making a higher-end model that will be positioned above the current M1-based MacBook Air, but below the MacBook Pro.

Faster and more colors

The higher-end MacBook Air will get the successor to the M1 SoC, it will be faster but will stick to the same number of computing cores. The number of graphics cores on the other hand will increase, from the current seven or eight to nine or ten. The model will also stick with two USB-C ports.

Apple will give the new MacBook Air a fresh design, it will be even thinner than the current MacBook Air. Other than this, you can expect larger function keys and a smaller trackpad. The new color options of the 24-inch iMac are expected to be offered, giving customers a wider range of customization options.
Prosser says that the ?MacBook Air? will be available in a range of color options, much like the 24-inch iMac, and will feature larger function keys, a smaller trackpad, and redesigned feet on the underside of the machine. The biggest change in terms of design from the current ?MacBook Air? seems to be the loss of its iconic tapered design. Instead, the ?MacBook Air? will become considerably thinner as a whole, Prosser explained.
Other than this, there are whispers about a MagSafe charging port and possibly a mini-LED based display.
