VIA debuts 24 port Ethernet chip

The Inquirer reports VIA launched the Atlantic VT6528 Ethernet Switch Controller a few days ago.

This chip offers 24 10/100 ports and two 10/100/1000 ports.
The part that got me interested is that there is a pretty big price gap between the 8/12 port switch market and their slightly larger 16 and 24 port brethren. If chips like this, targeted at the price conscious set, can take those switches down a notch or three in end user price, all the better.
