AMD gains marketshare in server market

Posted on Thursday, November 24 2005 @ 14:00:57 CET by

Gartner reports AMD continued to increase its marketshare in the server market in Q3 2005. The company managed to increase its share from eight percent to ten percent, a pretty substantial gain in a single quarter.
For the US x86 market, it took a 16.4% bite out of it, up from an 11.9% bite the quarter before.

In the 4P space, the ramp was even more substantial, going from a 28% to a 38.2% bite, a huge gain. Ten per cent of a segment in three months is pretty astounding. If you are wondering, AMD is happy to point out that Dell's bite went from 15.3% to 12.9% in the same time. I would guess that HP is the big winner here, it is aggressively pitching AMD boxes against Dell in this space.
More details over here.
