Ricoh planning 200GB optical disc

We already reported about high-capacity holographic discs from Maxell and InPhase and today The Inquirer read Ricoh is also believed to be able to release an optical disc with a 200GB capacity by 2008.
The technology will use eight layers rather than the two promised by Sony's Blu-ray and Toshiba's HD tech.

But - and here's the rub - the optical head uses a similar design to HD and Blu-ray, so Ricoh's tech will be able to work with these two competing camps.
