ASUS has released the W1 Carbon Notebook Series with high-tech carbon fiber housing. As the latest addition of notebooks that offer the advanced DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial) digital TV feature, the W1 Carbon is the winner of iF Gold Design Award 2005. Adopting the new Centrino platform, DDR II, PCI Express and the ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics performance, the W1 Carbon represents the perfect fusion of leading technology and style.

Carbon fiber has long been the top choice of material used in aerospace technology for its unique physical characteristics. The W1 Carbon's LCD cover is made of solid carbon fiber that acts as effective EMI protective shield. By using this material, the W1 Carbon is 60% lighter and twice as tough than that of the notebooks made of aluminum magnesium. Besides the mechanical benefits, the ASUS industrial design team has brought out the physical beauty of carbon fiber with a dynamic design that fully expresses its outward strength as well as underlying resilience.

The built-in DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial) feature allows wireless digital TV broadcast wherever the service is available. To offer a relaxing viewing experience, the W1 Carbon included an ultra-slim remote controller that can be stored in the PCMCIA slot when not needed and an LCM display to show TV channel status, CD tracks, DVD scene numbers and more.
