Fujifilm today announced its Blu-ray and HD DVD media will be available by mid 2006. Prototypes of these disks will be presented at the Fujifilm booth at CES 2006 in Las Vegas this week.

The company also says it's developing holographic storage technologies to bring multiple terabytes of optical storage capacity to consumer, entertainment and commercial applications. A single terabyte of holographic disc storage is roughly the equivalent of 16 days of continuously running DVD movies, or 8,000 times more data than a human brain retains in a lifetime.
