Acer TravelMate 4200 - Intel Core Duo based notebook

Acer launched the Intel Centrino Duo based TravelMate 4200 notebook today. The Acer TravelMate 4200 series uses the advanced Intel Core Duo processor with speeds of up to 2.16GHz, the new Intel 945PM/GM Express chipset with 677MHz FSB and provides full wireless connectivity through the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection chipset -- dual-band tri-mode IEEE 802.11a/b/g WiFi Certified solution -- supporting Acer SignalUp wireless technology for super-stable reception. Built to provide solid performance, the TravelMate 4200 comes equipped with the responsive dual-channel DDR2 memory and an ATA 5400RPM Hard Drive.

The TravelMate 4200 also offers innovative data security through Acer's proprietary Empowering Technology utility suite that features eDataSecurity Management for one-click encryption of files and folders encryption and eLock Management that allows all removable data devices to be locked in a single move.

Widescreen displays improve productivity by increasing available viewing area. The TravelMate 4200 series offers a bright 15.4" widescreen TFT display with 1200x800 pixel resolution enhanced with Acer GridVista, an extremely useful tool developed by Acer that allows simultaneous multi-window viewing on dual displays. Graphics are managed by the Intel 945GM integrated 3D graphics featuring the new Intel Graphics Accelerator Media 950 and up to 128MB of dynamically shared VRAM.

Weighing approximately 6.5lbs, the TravelMate 4200 combines stunning portability with the performance to meet the most demanding mobile business applications. In addition, the Acer TravelMate 4200 also features Intel's NAPA platform with up to 4.5 hours of battery life that can be extended with ePower Management, the Empowering Technology suite module dedicated to creating user definable power profiles.

Absolute mobility means the ability to stay connected in different environments. The wireless connectivity of the TravelMate 4200 is based on 802.11a, b and g standards, further enhanced by Acer SignalUp Technology for stable reception. Back in the office, the TravelMate 4200 series easily connects to the wired LAN through the integrated Fast Ethernet card while traditional dial-up connections can be made though the integrated 56K ITU V.92 modem.

The Acer TravelMate 4200 models have a full set of I/O ports, including four USB 2.0 ports. In addition, there is a VGA connector for external monitors, an S-Video/TV-out port (NTSC/PAL) and a PC Card slot (type II). In addition, all models feature a DVD-Dual Double Layer burner.

The TravelMate 4200 notebook series comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional and a complete range of utility programs. These include Acer Empowering Technology (eDataSecurity, eLock, ePerformance, eRecovery, eSettings, eNet, ePower and ePresentation), Acer GridVista, Acer Launch Manager, Adobe Reader, Cyberlink Power DVD, NTI CD-Maker and Norton AntiVirus that can be updated over the Internet.

The Acer TravelMate 4200 is available for approximately $1199.
