That said, consumer electronics companies looking to use the drives in their products will have to wait until 2007 to take delivery of such "high-capacity" 0.85in units, Toshiba admitted when it announced the products at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today.Addionnally, the company also started shipping a 80GB 1.8-inch drive. This is a dual-platter version of the 40GB drive it launched in August last year.

The Register writes Toshiba begun shipping its 4GB 3,600RPM 0.85-inch micro HDDs. The company also said at CES 2006 it will boost the capacity of its 0.85-inch HDDs to 10GB with perpendicular recording.
