Microsoft has made the Flip4Mac tool available for free. This plugin enables Mac users to play Windows Media files such as .wma and .wmv directly in QuickTime Player.

The company says Windows Media Components for QuickTime has been highly optimized for Power Mac G4 and G5 computers and supports playback of high-definition Windows Media video files.

It can be downloaded at Microsoft's site.
