Prey details and screenshots

Posted on Friday, February 03 2006 @ 03:46:00 CET by

1UP has a lenghty article with a bunch of information and some screenshots of 3D Realm's highly anticipated Prey.
Derived from an extensively modified version of id's Doom 3 engine, Human Head's new Prey engine has McArthur excited. "We wanted to have gorgeous next-generation visuals, and the Doom 3 engine was doing some great things," says McArthur about the company's preference for id's code base. "The technical implementation details fit well with some of our technology plans, many of us had worked with id's technology before, and it's always been a good starting point for making technology additions." So what's the big whoop-de-do about expanding a 1-plus-year-old engine? Doom 3 with aliens, new weapons, and some code perks, right? Not exactly. Think bigger, or perhaps more aptly, think unhinged.
Check it out over here.
