Intel wants to launch Clovertown in 2006

Intel is doing its best to release the quad-core Clovertown processor by the end of this year, instead of in the first quarter of 2007, The Inquirer reports:
The reason for this is that Intel wants to cock a snook at AMD and show that now it's capable of executing on its plans, and doing so swiftly.

There's already Clovertown silicon and while Intel is promising nothing to its partners, it feels that being able to release a quad core in Q4 will be quite a coup.
