Nintendo Revolution & Gameboy Micro Review

Rev-o-lu-tion: a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something. Did E3 2005 mark the beginning of Nintendo’s revolution? Not really. The unveiling of their next generation system was laughable. When Satoru Iwata thrust the Revolution prototype in the air, I asked myself, “Why is this man holding a broadband modem?

LMAO! Wow, this guy is basing the "laughable" unveiling of the Revolution on the perception of it looking similar to a broadband modem. So how much does do you pay Bill Gates per blow job, buddy?

Judging a console based on initial appearence is stupid. Plus, if you actually look at the system, its incredibily sleek.

oh yeah i get it...like when he pulled it out and it was hiding behind him because it was sleek enough and he just whipped it out, not like the *COUGH* "awsome" *COUGH* sony thing where the lights went out and he was holding a damn fridge advertising spiderman...wait...whats that bob?...THAT WAS THE PS3??? BWAHAHAHAHAHA next you'll be telling me that banana was the controller! and that the Xbox 360 wont even be backwards compatible with the last generation! unlike the 20 years nintendo already has underneath its belt ontop of the revolutionary aspect...

You fool. You judged the system as soon as you saw it? Does the 20 years of backwards compatability mean nothing to you?

You're post was 5 sentances long, and only said that the system looked like a "broadband modem." First - if you have a broadband modem that looks like THAT, I'd like to see it! The Revolution is one of the most impressive looking pieces of hardware I've ever laid my eye upon.

Still, that doesn't really mean anything. It could look like anything on the outside for all I care (as should any other true gamer - clearly you don't fall into this catagory if you gave up on the Revolution based on it's appearence - good or bad), as long as the hardware inside makes the system worth playing.

And frankly - all three systems are going to have great graphics. In fact, I have 20/20 vision, and I'll bet you $50 I won't be able to see much of a difference between the systems. That said - what seperates the XBox 360, PS3 and Revolution? Other than software (which really won't be much of an issue, since almost all third-party support is going to all three consoles) not much. Well, except in Nintendo's case: the complete console library on your Revolution, mixed with an interesting new controller (don't pretend the controller won't be good - Nintendo is the ONLY company to successfully innovate console controllers, and they have been successful in every attempt) lends to a promising Revolution.

Of course, Nintendo's first-party support is the best of any those companies - by miles. Zelda, Smash Bros., Mario (and Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc), Metroid, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Advanced Wars and Starfox are all Nintendo-exclusive fanchises. What does Sony have?

So before you judge Nintendo on the appearence of their console - you might want to think about a few other factors (if you can handle that much consideration), such as Nintendo being the most profitable of the three gaming giants out there. Microsoft is STILL making up for selling the XBox at a loss at launch, and it looks like their going for a repeat with the 360.

Maybe you should wake up and look at the past 20 years of gaming history - including the recent trends - before saying "Nintendo sucks because the console's shell isn't pretty" - especially since everyone else knows how good the console is, and even sees that the shell itself is quite a catch for the eye.

Wake up and run. The Revolution is around the corner.
