To help control the amount of noise produced from the 2 fans, they have included an auto/manual dial to reduce the fan speed, but the user doesn't control the fan speed totally. The fan speed is also controlled thermally, if the heat does build up it overrides the manual control and speeds the fans up automatically until everything cools off.
