Antec TrueControl 550W PSU review

TrueControl
This power supply is called TrueControl because you are able to adjust the voltage lines very easely trough a bay device included with this power supply. Here is a table which tells you the voltage adjustement range you are able to reach with the TrueControl according to Antec. Testing of this will follow a few pages later.

Voltage Adjustment Range

Output Variation Min. Voltage Max Voltage
+12VDC +-5% +11.40V +12.60V
+3.3VDC +-5% +3.14V +3.74V
+5VDC +-5% 4.75V +5.25V

The TrueControl devices takes up one 5.25" bay and has place for a 3.5" device like a diskette drive or a hard disk.

On the left, you can see the cable that you need to connect to the TrueControl bay device. The second picture shows you the nice Snake-like meshed ATX motherboard cable. It is very long, a little bit too long if you ask me. The third picture shows the two fan-only connectors, fans connected to those will be controlled by the PSU, and you are able to adjust their speed from the TrueControl bay device just like the two fans inside the PSU.

On the left, we have a small cable for RPM readout of the PSU fan, and to the right, we have a look at all the Molex cables from this PSU. All cables from this PSU are very long, and it is possible that they will cause some cable clutter in your case because of their length. There are seven Molex connectors and two diskette drive connectors. Still no SATA power cables, however. Hopefully, Antec will include SATA power cables in their PSUs soon.
